Joyful Beginnings opens second location to meet childcare demand in Capital Region

Joyful Beginnings Early Education Program is a daycare center built on the premise that every child needs to be nurtured as an individual. The not-for-profit provides care for preschool age children, 91% of whom receive substantial DSS support. In 2019, Joyful Beginnings opened a second location in Waterford with assistance from the Community Loan Fund of the Capital Region.

Hudson Sloop Club takes kids to the river

"The Community Loan Fund made it possible for us to realize the long-standing dream of building the Everett Nack Environmental Education Center for the people of the City of Hudson," says Nick Zachos, Executive Director, Hudson Sloop Club. "Thanks to the Community Loan Fund, our small volunteer-run non-profit is able to do big things." The Hudson Sloop Club also offers fishing, boating, ecology, and even boat-building courses for youth.

Out of the Pits rescues dogs and changes the way we think about pit bulls

Out of the Pits was founded in 1998 to rescue pit bulls. Today, more than 6,000 pit bulls have been saved by this growing organization. In 2018, the Community Loan Fund of the Capital Region loaned this non-profit the funds to build a new kennel - making it possible for them to save even more pups.

Community Loan Fund helps Palace Theatre gear up for future

This week, the Community Loan Fund of the Capital Region closed on a loan to the Palace Theatre totaling $390,000. The loan will help prepare this performing arts center -- which is best known for its spotlight performances and twinkling marquee -- for a bright future!

Habitat for Humanity levels up Sheridan Hollow

In 2015, Habitat for Humanity of the Capital District, with $600,000 in financing from the Community Loan Fund of the Capital Region, completed the construction of 13 affordable, energy-efficient homes in Albany’s Sheridan Hollow neighborhood.
